What If God Answered His Prayer?

I asked my son to include my intentions (to find a job within the week) in his prayer before bedtime. Instead, he asked God to give me a job next year. When I asked him why, he told me that he likes having me at home. Now if only we're not heading towards difficult times, I would have liked that too.

McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop

I enrolled Koy in the McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop last summer. For an investment of P500.00, he got a bag, cap, ID, T-shirt, free spaghetti meal for 5 days, and activity stuff too. His favorite part of the whole workshop was his time in the kitchen where he learned about how they cooked his favorite crispy fried chicken. His least favorite is having to stand in the counter and greet everyone a "Good Morning, Ma'am/Sir" with a smile.

Summer camps are alternative learning experiences for kids. It teaches them new things and broadens their understanding of how things work.

I asked Koy it he'd still want to enrol at McDo Kiddie Crew Workshop next year. Naaaaaaa, he said ha's had enough of it. Maybe we'll try out the Junior Forester program at the Negros Forest and Ecological Foundation Mini Forest and Zoo!

The Wedding (Manolito and Joy)

We attend Joy and Manolito's wedding last Saturday, 10th of October. Everybody dressed up to the nines as the motif was Black Tie. Even the hubby had to forego his usual denims and collarless shirt for the polo, slacks and dapa which he only gets to wear once in a blue moon. As for me, there was nothing fancy in my closet so I settled for my little black dress, which turned out to be not so little anymore LOL!.

Anyways, Koy got the privilege of marching down the aisle and play coin bearer. We were all excited to see him in his coat and tie. And my oh my, he didn't disappoint us! He looked very comfortable in it!

Wall-E Spotted

The workings of the trash compactor robot named Wall-e has been discovered near the peaceful Rolling Hills Memorial Chapel in Bacolod City. Is it not that it is supposed to start doing its work on 2105? Have we been fast-tracking our wasteful ways thereby laying the grounds for the establishment of a super-mega landfill that necessitates the abandonment of the earth we live in and the death of all life forms? Has doomsday come before Christmas?


Echos lang! Been meaning to post this pictures online for the longest time ever! I've been passing by the shortcut road at 27th Lacson Street to evade the traffic at Crossing Ramos since time in immemorial. But I never really got excited about these pile of junks until Wall-E.

I love this movie, Koy loved it too. He was 4 when he first watched it and he was deeply moved (spoiler alert! read at your own risk, if you haven't seen the movie yet) during that scene when Eve didn't recognize Wall-E. It's a good movie to watch with children. It teaches kids about the environment, waste management, learning to cope with whatever blessings you have, resourcefulness and companionship.

The Proposal

For our reading time before bed last night, Koy picked My First Bible which retells the stories of the Bible with illustrations for kids. Before we started our reading, we had this conversation (translated to English):

"Ma, when I grow up, I want to be a priest"

"Sure"

"I will be a priest but I will still live with you"

"Oh no, baby, when you become a priest you will be where your church is. That will be your home. Just like Uncle Fr. Noni, his church is in Rome so he lives there. But you can always ask us to come with you wherever you will be assigned."

"Why does it have to be like that?"

"Because that's just the way it is."

Then we started reading about The Creation.

Just thought I'd write this one here so if ever the angels like his idea and give it a push, I would have something to share during his Ordination Party. LOL!

Someday... I Just Know

When he saw her, he just knew - he'll marry her someday.

He will go to the US, where she is now. He will court her, she'll say yes and they will marry. He will build her a house, a robot house, one that transforms and can fly.

But for now, he's going to study very hard, especially math and science because he needs to be very good at it to be able to build his robot house. He pretty much has some ideas sketched up in his mind on how he would want it to look but he has to reinforce it with the fundamentals so that it's not only going to be about the design but the structure as well.

For now, he's not going to call her or send her email for he doesn't miss her yet. When he does, he will.

Whenever he's paired up with some pretty girl his age, he'd shy off and say that he already has a girlfriend. Her name is Charie, she's currently in the states and he's going to marry her someday.

So loyal and pure...

He curled his hands into fists and started to pound on his temples while squinting and chanting, “Brain, Brain, buligi ako!!!!!” (Brain, brain, help me!!!!!)

Everybody broke down in laughter, especially Koy.

Eating on His Own

Last Sunday we attended the hubby's high school reunion at Hotel Del Rio. We met some of his batchmates who brought their families as well. During lunch, we sat Koy in between us. Without any supervision, he managed to eat on his own finishing every spoonful of rice and sotanghon with egg on his plate. One of the hubby's lady batchmates asked how old is Koy and when we told her he is 4, she was surprised at how young and independent he is. An observation shared by every one else on our table.

When we got home, we shared this info with Koy, congratulating him at how he was able to impress his papa's batchmates.

"Te kay may pulis to!" (There was a police officer there!)

Drink 2 Glasses of Milk Daily

Mama: Koy, finish your milk, na. Your teacher said that you have to drink two glasses of milk a day.


Chikoy: Indi na ya glass, Mama, plastic na ya!

Oo man gani....

A spider was spinning webs on the ceiling over our bed. I heard Koy shout out in panic at the sight of it.

Koy: “Mama, may spider! Patya!”

Mama: “Indi lang! Ang spider ginaka-on ya na ang mga mosquitoes and mga insects, para indi kita pag i-bite! Friend ta na ang spider! Si Charlotte na siya! (with reference to Charlotte’s Web)”

Koy: “Indi na siya si Charlotte ya, dako to ya si Charlotte ya!”

Mama: (Napahiya si Mama) “Si Charlotte Junior na siya! Te Charlotte man gyapon iya ngalan” (Palusot pa!)

Mama: Te, higda na, kay ma sleep na ta. Pray anay before you sleep. Pray ka para bantayan ka sang angel mo kag sang spider mag sleep ka. Make the sign of the cross na.

Koy: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Someday, I Just Know

While answering the exercises I prepared for him in anticipation for his final exam.

Boz: Magdako na ko bala, tagaan ko bala ni Emily Raine (classmate) sang t-shirt na Power Rangers. (When I grow up, Emily Raine will give me a Power Rangers t-shirt)

Mama: Tuod ka? Amo na siling ya? (Really? That's what she said?)

Boz: Hambalon ko pa siya. (I plan to tell her that)

Watching Chicken Run

While Watching Chicken Run on Studio 23...

The scene: A hen was grabbed by the neck and brought to a shack. Mrs. Tweedy opened the door to reveal an axe on a slab of wood. She lifted the axe and closed the door.

Boz: napatay ang chicken, mama? (Did the chicken die, mama?)

Uneasy silence…

Mama: nag-ubra sila chicken pie. (They made chicken pie)

Boz: nag-ubra sila chicken pie? Kakaon na ko bala sang chicken pie. Namit na sa no? (They made chicken pie? I’ve eaten chicken pie. Taste good, no?)

Coke Zero

His assignment for the day was to practice writing the number 10.

Me: Write number one, first. Vertical line then slanting line. And then zero. Just like Coke Zero!

(finished writing the number 10)

Chikoy: Coke one ya? (What about Coke 1?)

Me: huh?

Chikoy: Tapos na ang Coke Zero, Coke One naman dason. (We're done with Coke Zero, Coke one comes next.)

Me: Palagpat!

We both ended up laughing!

I like My Father's Name

As we drove by the Cathedral, my mother mentioned that January 20 is also the feast day of its patron saint, St. Sebastian. Since it is also the hubby’s birthdate, I kidded around and told him that had his parents been devout Catholics, he would have been named after the saint’s name. All of a sudden, a pillow flew and landed on the dashboard from the car’s backseat. Chikoy threw the pillow in protest of the joke.

With hands crossed over his chest, he forcefully proclaimed, “Indi ko gusto!”

“Ang ano baby?”

“Indi ko gusto i-la-in ang ngalan ni papa ko… waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” sobs, sobs sobs.

Aaawwws… I’m sorry baby, it was just a joke. We’re not changing your papa’s name to Sebastian. Mama won’t joke around like that anymore. Until you’re in a better mood! Kidding!

It took a while before we got him to stop crying. Later, when he was sober, we asked him why he didn't like the joke. He said that he didn't want us to change his papa's name. He likes it to stay the way it is. A very logical explanation explanation really.

Hay, with the rate things are going, I'd have to censor my jokes too!

B is for Bao

Over dinner, the nanny told us that her attention was called by Chikoy's teacher for being so chatty (talkative is so stereotype) in class. He's one of those students who couldn't finish his writing exercises because he's heavily engaged in conversation with his seatmate.

I asked the hubby if he was like that as a kid. He said no. It must be me then! (Although, I knew that already even before I asked the question LOL!)

Addendum:

I asked Chikoy what he and Rianne, his seatmate, were busy talking about - the blue car on the book cover. Some pick up line eh?
